South Wales Cross Country Championship Results 2026

Pembrey Country Park, 10 October 2026

(14 October – Men’s overall and V35 results updated following finalised results)

The first fixture of the Gwent League is the traditional curtain-raiser for regional cross country, and this weekend we travelled to Carmarthenshire for some fast racing on the twists, turns, and that sandy hill of the Pembrey course.

A big thank you to the clubs promoting the regional championships and for encouraging their runners to sign up to get the opportunity to represent South Wales at the upcoming Inter-regionals.

Our junior races were nearly entirely dominated by the 3 corners of our region with the athletics clubs from Aberdare, Bridgend and Cardiff taking home many medals.

It was mostly the boys fronting their fields, with a South Wales podium of Noah Howells (Aberdare Valley AAC), Siôn Mitchell (Cardiff Athletics), and Rowan Carson (Bridgend Athletics) in the U14 race. There were also wins for Bridgend athletes Lewis Durston (U16)and Nate Greig (U18), with a second place for Taylor Greig (U20).

Alesha Santos (Cardiff Athletics) secured a third place overall in the U16 girls race.

Onto the fiendishly competitive senior and masters races, and we saw the same regional podium in the women’s race as last year, but this time Louise Flynn put in a second lap surge to best Les Croupiers RC teammate Nynke Kuiper, with Emily Fell repeating her third place from 2025. This strong podium, along with Julie Chamberlain, secured Les Croupiers RC’s place as the women’s regional champions of cross-country.

However, it was all change in the men’s race as Adam Bull was the first regional athlete to cross the line, ahead of Ciaran Lewis, a Les Croupiers RC filling in a Pontypridd Roadents AC sandwich, with Ben Hughes in third. With Tom Flitcroft finishing fourth and first V35 along with strong finishes from James Prosser and Vaughan Edwards, Les Croupiers RC matched the women to finish as the top regional cross country club.

The highest placed runners in the masters categories were the stalwarts of the men’s V65+ which saw Peter Trevitt (Penarth & Dinas Runners), Richard Bullen (Les Croupiers RC), and Ian Bell (San Domenico RC) finishing third, fifth, and sixth respectively.
