NIAC hosted the first event of the 2025/26 indoor season on Sunday 7 December, with a number of South Wales athletes battling it out in various track and field events for the championship titles.
The first track race of the day saw Megan Chantrell (Cardiff Athletics) take gold in the U17W 1000m walk, with Nia Vale (Bridgend Athletics) winning the U15G event and Isla Neenan taking the title for U13G.
U15G Long Jump saw Olympia Murray of Cardiff Archers take the gold with a PB of 5.07m, with her also winning the silver medal on the track in the 200m. Olivia Thomas, also of Cardiff Archers took the U15G 200M title with a PB of 26.07s, with Myla Moss taking the bronze.
In the 300m events. Sophia Groves (Bridgend Athletics) took the U15G gold whilst Amelia Garvey of Cardiff Athletics took the U17W gold medal. The U17M 400m saw Alex Stamp (Cardiff Athletics) take the gold medal position.
Cardiff Athletics saw a full podium in the U17W 200m with Abbi Beadle taking the gold, followed by Megan Hughes and Amelie Edwards. Megan and Amelie also medalled in the 300M and Triple jump respectively. For the U17M 200m, Oliver Shearer of Cardiff Athletics took the gold, with Jacob Barnes winning the U15B 200m.
Dylan Holmes (Cardiff Archers) took gold in both Triple jump and shot put in the U15 boys’ category with PBs in both events. A PB for Charlotte Bromley (Cardiff Archers) saw her win the gold medal in the U15G High Jump, with Aubrey Hutcheon (Cardiff Archers) win the U13G category.
This was only day 1, and some fantastic performances all round! We are looking forward to day 2, which takes place on 11 January 2026.
