The South Wales Regional Athletics Council (SWRAC) is made up from representatives from clubs and school districts across the region. We meet regularly to organise competitions, develop athletes, and come together as a team to compete across the UK.

We have more than 30 clubs spread across the region offering the full range of running experiences from juniors trying track and field for the first time, taking on one of Europe’s largest half marathons, to masters athletes competing for cross-country medals.

There are many opportunities to represent South Wales, and these will be listed on the Events page, with News updates to give all the details of how and when to submit yourself for consideration.

We also run regular championship races, usually within a locally organised race, so make sure you keep an eye on what races have been chosen and don’t forget to sign up!

Mission statement

To develop and promote athletic and running excellence in our region. To foster a culture of shared practice and inclusivity

South Wales Regional Athletics Council represents Welsh Athletics affiliated clubs based within the region, and works alongside strategic partners (including schools) to promote and develop the sport of athletics and running.

The Council will promote friendly competitiveness, with selection to events based on merit and fairness. The Council will work with clubs to develop athletics and running for all abilities, and will assist clubs with ensuring the safe welfare of their members.

The Council will act as a conduit for clubs based in the region to share good practice, and to learn lessons from mistakes or errors that from time to time occur. To be the best in all that we endeavour.

The aims of the Council shall be:
